Rep. Al Green (D-TX 9th District) , who has called for the impeachment of president Trump several times has released a statement via Twitter saying that he will not attend Trump's 2020 State of the Union speech:
Because of an impeached, reckless, ruthless, lawless, shameless, corrupt, & unapologetic-ally bigoted president - who is still engaging in a cover up, the state of the House, the state of the Senate, and the State of the Union are divided.
I will NOT attend #SOTU2020.
Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) took to the floor of the House on Tuesday to deliver a blistering rebuke of President Trump for likening the House impeachment inquiry to a lynching. Green went as far as saying that the comparison made Trump “no better than those who burn crosses” and “wear hoods and white robes.”

On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, Congressman Al Green announced his renewed effort to impeach the President of the United States for his bigotry causing harm to society. These articles of impeachment are representative of the boiling point many Americans have reached as President Trump consistently spews racist rhetoric and finds ways to infuse it into policy and persistently aims to separate children from their parents. The President continues to be reckless, ruthless, lawless and, ultimately, unfit to hold the highest office in the land. We must impeach now.
