FAMU student’s designs hit Target, JCPenney for Black History Month

After taking a chance and entering her first two design competitions, Florida A&M University student Kah’Milah Ledgester has struck gold on a national scale.

Ledgester, a senior graphic design student, was chosen as one of three winners for Target's 2021 HBCU design contest and one of two national winners for JCPenney’s Young, Gifted and Black design challenge.

She was notified of the selections last spring that her designs would be featured during Black History Month of 2022.

“I always get a little excited because of the fact that I did the Target challenge, and I also did JCPenney and won both of them. It made me feel very good because I took a chance,” said Ledgester, native of Adel, Georgia.
