White Americans Draw Distinctions Between African-Americans and Blacks

This was a very surprising study to see. I was surprised because online you read post by some whites about the divisiveness of the term African American while at the same time, maybe even unbeknownst to them they have a different perspective of African Americans vs "Blacks". George L. Cook III AfricanAmericanReports.com.

White Americans are fine with African-Americans. Blacks, however, are a different story.

That’s the disturbing implication of a new study, which finds the way a person of color is labeled can impact how he or she is perceived.

In the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, a research team led by Emory University’s Erika Hall argues that “the racial label ‘black’ evokes a mental representation of a person with lower socioeconomic status than the racial label ‘African-American.’”

“The content embedded in the black stereotype is generally more negative, and less warm and competent, than that in the African-American stereotype,” the researchers write. “These different associations carry consequences for how whites perceive Americans of African descent who are labeled with either term.”

Black NFL referee refused to work Redskins games in protest of racist team name

A former NFL referee told The Washington Post that he requested not to work home or away games for the Washington Redskins due to the team's controversial nickname.

Mike Carey, who retired after the 2013 season following 24 years in the league, says he requested off Washington's games beginning with the 2006 season because it became clear to him that "something disrespectful" was happening and being on the field "probably (was) not the best thing for me."

"Human beings take social stances," Carey, the first African-American referee to work a Super Bowl, told the newspaper. "And if you're respectful of all human beings, you have to decide what you're going to do and why you're going to do it.

Longtime NFL referee Mike Carey said "even if I didn't have Native American friends, the name of the team is disrespectful." "In America we've learned that respect is the most important thing that you have. I learned it from my parents, my schools, from my faith. And when you learn there's something that might not be as respectful as you like, when you come to terms with it, you have to do something about it."

"I know that if a team had a derogatory name for African-Americans, I would help those who helped extinguish that name. I have quite a few friends who are Native Americans. And even if I didn't have Native American friends, the name of the team is disrespectful."

R&B Singer Tank Won't Sing National Anthem At L.A. Clippers Game

[ SOURCE ] In protest of racist comments allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, R&B singer Tank says he won't sing the national anthem at Tuesday's Clippers game.

"As an African-American man and artist, I must take a stand on a matter that is so deeply personal to me," the 38-year-old "I Can't Make You Love Me" singer told TMZ. "In light of the recent disturbing and offensive allegations, in good conscience, I cannot move forward with my scheduled appearance."

LA NAACP to Return Money Donated by Sterling

[ SOURCE ] The president of the Los Angeles NAACP confirmed during a news conference Monday that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling will no longer receive a lifetime achievement award next month and that money donated by the embattled owner will be returned.

Should LA Clippers players boycott their next game to protest owner Sterling's racist comments?

I'm sure by now many of you have heard the racist comments LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling made during what he thought was a private conversation with his girlfriend. I wont post that BS on my blog but you can check it out here HERE.

This has put the LA Clippers players such as Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and others in a tight spot. Deandre Jordan reportedly posted a black out picture on his Instagram account.

ESPN's Stephen Smith has reported that the Clipper players discussed boycotting the next game. The Clippers will play according to coach Doc Rivers. I would not suit up to play for that a**hole but I'm not on the team. I wont have to pay any fines or get docked a game check. What do you think they should do? George Cook AARports.com.

Cliven Bundy Says Blacks Might Have Been 'Better Off' As Slaves

Wow I guess being racist makes you a true patriot in the eyes of people like Ted Cruz, Sean Hannity, and Mike Huckabee. Cliven Bundy the current hero of conservative politicians and conservative talking heads made some very racist remarks doing one of his daily diatribes. This conservative "hero" said:

[ SOURCE ] “I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

What's funny is that a lot of Bundy's supporters appear to be caught off guard by his remarks while his detractors are not. Now many of his supporters are in full back track mode. LOL. That's what happens when you blindly support someone without knowing who or what they really are. George Cook AAReports.com.
